Hello everyone,

My name is Nancy and I am new to the vw scene. I have always wanted a Super Beetle ever since I was a young girl. I finally got one...a 1978 Super Beetle Champagne Edition II pretty much stock except for the bad paint jobs.

Here are some pic. http://sites.google.com/site/bugginoutproject/

I am hoping to get some input on were I should take it to have the paint restored to the original color Ancona Metallic (blue, L97B). Also the ragtop replaced.

What are the best online parts stores for OEM replacement parts?

Looking forward to talking with all.

Price will drive most of your decisions. CIP1 usually has a good selection and sometimes you can catch a 10 or even a 15% discount off stuff. They can ship for free but it is slow...

WolfsBurg West is decent as is West Coast Metric...You can shop for parts on Samba, but thats Buyer Ceware there...

Ragtop: There's a upholstery guy named Aronas (sp?) in Pasadena that I've heard good things about. Someone here may have his contact info. Or check with Donnie at Smith Foreign.

A quick google, I think this is it: http://arjonasupholstery.com/

Also, Stephanie (Buggerfly) just had her top replaced. You may want to talk to her.

Parts: Locally, Donnie can get parts, there's also Kermit (KAR parts), BAP Geon and The Bug Shop in Angleton.

Junk yards? These guys have alot of stuff (I was there yesterday...)
Gary @ Pinemont Auto Salvage
4219 Pinemont Dr
Houston, TX 77018
(713) 681-1988

Also, Paul has a few parts bugs at his shop:

Paul @ Fountain of Youth VW
(281) 337-4238
1429 Tx-3 S, League City, TX 77573

There's also a guy named Frank Hussein in Katy...
You can 'search' him on the Aircoolers site. Some have had good luck, some less so...

There are also the classified on the forum boards:
www.thesamba.com
www.aircoolers.org
www.hvwc.org
etc....

If you have time, come on out to our meeting on Thursday or to the La Porte Show next weekend. There will be a few of us there.

Sweet bug!! Best of luck getting it up to snuff!

Thank you veedubcrazy for the info.

Thank you thingmon for the info also.

If my better half and I have time run out to the La Prote Show sounds like fun.

Lots of stuff and helpful people out there. That's what makes them fun and reasonable to own compared to other older cars!

Welcome to the madness.

Welcome, and hope to see y'all out sometime. Lots of different options, might be easier to talk about them in person.

Good luck!
